Study shows benefit of seat wedge for children

A study in England found that by implementing a simple seat wedge (just like the ones we use) there was a 58% reduction in lower back pain in children aged 14-16 years old.

Just like brushing your teeth before going to bed, avoiding things that are particularly bad for your body mechanics should be common practice. In our opinion things like soft beds, highly modified shoes, cushy couches and poorly designed seats are a major contributor to body issues.

Sitting posture has a big impact on our bodies and there’s no better place to start then when we are young. This is why we recommend everybody use a seat wedge as often as possible.

Sitting on a seat wedge has both short and long term benefits. In the short term it leverages your spine to stay upright without the level of muscular effort required from a more slumped position. This results in less pressure on discs, joints, muscles and nerves and has you feel a whole lot better.

The greatest benefit however is ability to prevent bones from being pushed in a direction the body cannot self correct, preventing the body from compensating into the twisted bodies we unfortunately see come into our practices every day.
